Quality Assurance and Improvement - Medical Assistant
About the position Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is a multi-clinic network providing integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty, and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), they serve nearly 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County and have received national awards from HRSA. The Quality Assurance and Improvement (QA/I) Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in promoting high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care. This role involves collaborating with the QA/I team on training and support methods for Medical Assistants, acting as a liaison between the QA/I department and clinical staff, and encouraging participation in Quality Improvement programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient outreach to address care gaps and share best practices with the QA/I team.
- Provide clinical perspective and support for QA/I projects, initiatives, and strategies.
- Collaborate with MA Supervisors at all sites to support, coordinate, and promote QI activities and increase MA participation.
- Develop monthly Population Health activities for QI sessions in collaboration with QA/I Staff.
- Identify and share best practices for EPIC/OCHIN to enhance system knowledge and efficiency.
- Contribute to the design of MA training sessions, identifying high-priority topics, determining efficient workflows incorporating OCHIN Epic, and providing feedback on training materials.
- Develop a sense of competence and confidence in MAs, helping them understand their vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Valid CPR certification.
- 3 years minimum, 5 years desired Medical Assistant experience in a comparable work environment, or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced medical environment and take initiative to deliver tasks.
- Ability to multitask and organize workload.
- Ability to identify gaps in processes and bring potential correction solutions to the Quality Medical Director.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication ability.
- Must be able to work independently, with written and verbal protocols.
- Ability to work independently with providers and clinic staff.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Must be sensitive to ethnic and cultural differences relevant to health care.
- Bi-lingual English Spanish required.
- Proficient in software applications including Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to organize work and establish priorities to accomplish multiple tasks concurrently is critical to success.
- Travel to clinic sites within assigned work area.
Nice-to-haves
- 2+ years’ experience in a Medical Assistant leadership or training role highly desired.
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement, Compliance and/or Data Analysis highly desirable.
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred.
