Head of Legal (Fractional)
πLocation: US or UK based π Reporting to: CEO π Role type: Fractional / Contractor | 2-3 days/week (with scope to flex) | Fully remote | 3-month initial engagement As our internal legal point person, you'll be the keyowner of legal triage at Wuffes β managing external counsel, handling day-to-day commercial and compliance needs, and making sure legal is proactively managed. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy fractional role for a commercially-minded lawyer who thrives as the expert legal voice in a fast-moving business. π Your responsibilities: Own legal triage β assess and prioritise incoming legal needs across the business, routing to external counsel where needed and handling directly where appropriate Manage our external counsel relationships, ensuring effective scoping, and timely delivery Lead on commercial contracts including distribution, supply, co-manufacturing, and agency agreements Handle NDAs, vendor agreements, and data processing agreements end-to-end Support compliance reviews across marketing claims, product, privacy, and regulatory matters Maintain the IP portfolio β trademarks, licensing, and research agreements β ensuring housekeeping is current Coordinate and manage any litigation matters in partnership with external counsel Manage insurance renewals and act as the internal liaison for claims Draft and maintain internal policies and employee-facing legal documentation β What you bring: Qualified US attorney with 4+ years PQE and a mix of in-house and law firm experience Background in consumer, DTC, or CPG β experience in pet or supplements a strong plus Comfortable being the sole lawyer in the room: pragmatic, commercial, and confident in your triage instincts Proven experience managing external counsel relationships and budget US-based or UK-based with either a UK or US qualification β both workable Available on a fractional/contractor basis, with capacity for 2-3 days/week to start Please note: candidates who have acted for companies in the pet supplement space will not be considered If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please do not hesitate to contact us - we will always be happy to help.
