Position: Campaigns Research Intern Location: Protect Our Winters offers hybrid work hubs for candidates residing in CO, WA, OR, VT, or NH. While we prioritize candidates in CO, WA, OR, VT, and NH, we are open to considering qualified applicants from other states such as CA, UT, NV, AK, and MT. Reporting to: Sr. Director, Campaigns Timeline: July - November 2026 (10-15 hours per week) Status: Non-Exempt, internship, temporary Background Protect Our Winters (POW) was founded in 2007 by legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones with a simple and powerful idea: the outdoor community can be one of the most influential forces for climate action. Today, POW is a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit that unites athletes, brands, scientists, creatives, and everyday adventurers into the “Outdoor State,” 181 million people who love the outdoors and want clean air, clean water, and a healthy planet. We know what’s at stake. Climate change is already reshaping the places we live and play, fueled by fossil fuel pollution and stalled by policy inaction. POW exists to change that. Through bold campaigns and cross-partisan coalitions, we advocate for more clean energy, defend public lands, mobilize voters, and spark cultural shifts that move policy. The Opportunity We are looking for an individual to work closely with our Campaigns Team for 10- 15 hours per week. The position will be responsible for supporting the Campaigns Team with projects including federal legislative policy, coalition participation, and significantly supporting POW’s get-out-the-vote campaign and operations with research for a guidebook. While this individual is expected to perform some administrative tasks, there are opportunities to work on long-term strategic campaigns. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to juggle multiple tasks, manage their own workload, and take initiative and personal responsibility for all assignments. Description of Responsibilities Electoral Campaigns Responsible for coordinating work relating to POW’s stoke the vote tactics, including research and design, distribution of content, and building toolkits and training materials Support Campaigns Team with administrative tasks including but not limited to: invoice processing, travel logistics, presentation development, Salesforce data entry, and materials preparation Research policy positions of candidates running for elected office; campaign websites, previous statements, voting records, etc., on issues of importance to POW and its community Organize findings in a way that is easy to understand and share with the outdoor community Skills, experience, and qualifications that will help you be successful: An exceptionally strong academic record and academic or internship experience in the environmental policy, advocacy, and/or climate change arena preferred Highly developed analytical skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal direction in a remote setting An excitement to take on many different types of tasks and assignments Comfort with all standard software programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Google Suite (Documents, Sheets, Slides) Note: This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the job and is subject to change in POW’s sole and absolute discretion.
