Why This Role Matters – The Impact of a Media Designer in Customer Support

In the digital age, the line between design and customer service is blurring. Our customers rely on clear, accurate print files to bring their marketing campaigns, internal communications, and event materials to life. As a Media Designer (m/w/d) in the Customer Support team, you will be the bridge between technical design requirements and the everyday needs of our clients. Your expertise will empower customers to submit flawless print files, reduce costly re‑work, and ultimately enhance satisfaction and loyalty. This role is perfect for graphic‑design enthusiasts who love solving problems, explaining complex concepts in simple terms, and delivering exceptional service across phone, chat, and email channels.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers seeking guidance on print‑ready file preparation, including file formats, resolution, color profiles, and layout specifications.
  • Provide clear, step‑by‑step instructions for creating and exporting files for a wide range of products such as posters, banners, flyers, brochures, and custom packaging.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and alternative graphic tools (Affinity, CorelDRAW, QuarkXPress).
  • Collaborate with the production and quality‑assurance teams to ensure that submitted files meet internal standards and can be processed without delay.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of FAQs, tutorial videos, and best‑practice guides that empower customers to become more self‑sufficient.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to stay up‑to‑date with the latest software updates, printing technologies, and industry trends.
  • Contribute ideas for improving the customer journey, from the moment a file is uploaded to the final delivery of printed goods.
  • Support remote work arrangements, ensuring seamless communication with colleagues in Würzburg, Berlin, Kronach, and other locations.

Essential Qualifications – What We Require

  • Formal Education or Proven Experience: A completed apprenticeship or degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field, OR several years of hands‑on experience in a graphic‑design or print‑preparation role.
  • Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with alternative tools such as Affinity Designer, CorelDRAW, or QuarkXPress.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken German (C1 level or higher) with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
  • Customer‑Centric Attitude: Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help customers succeed.
  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Ability to quickly identify root causes of file‑related issues and propose practical, actionable solutions.
  • Team Spirit: Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to share knowledge with peers across departments.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, with the option to work remotely when living more than 50 km from one of our office sites.

Preferred Qualifications – Nice‑to‑Have Extras

  • Experience in a B2B e‑commerce environment, especially within the online printing sector.
  • Knowledge of pre‑press workflows, color management, and print production processes.
  • Familiarity with project‑management or ticket‑tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Zendesk, Freshdesk).
  • Additional language skills (English, French) to support international customers.
  • Previous experience creating instructional content such as video tutorials, webinars, or step‑by‑step guides.

Core Skills & Competencies – What Makes You Successful

  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of raster and vector graphics, file compression, bleed, trim, and other print‑specific parameters.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot inconsistencies, typographic errors, and color mismatches that could affect print quality.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong listening abilities, a friendly demeanor, and the capacity to build trust with customers quickly.
  • Time Management: Efficiently juggle multiple inquiries while maintaining high response quality and meeting service‑level agreements.
  • Continuous Learning: Proactive attitude toward staying current with software updates, new printing techniques, and evolving industry standards.
