Why This Role Matters
In today’s fast‑evolving financial landscape, the intersection of customer service, model risk management, and artificial intelligence (AI) is critical to maintaining trust, compliance, and competitive advantage. As a Customer Service Representative – Model Risk Management & AI Governance Specialist, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding arenaflex’s AI‑driven models, ensuring they operate ethically, accurately, and in line with regulatory expectations. Your work will directly influence the quality of the customer experience, protect the organization’s reputation, and drive long‑term shareholder value.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Oversight & Governance: Provide direct oversight of enterprise‑wide AI models, with a focus on large language models (LLMs) and other machine‑learning solutions used for fraud detection, credit scoring, and risk assessment.
- Risk Assessment & Controls: Conduct comprehensive model risk assessments, design and implement robust control frameworks, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- AI Research & Innovation: Lead research initiatives to identify opportunities for improving model performance, accuracy, and fairness, leveraging the latest advancements in AI and data science.
- Stakeholder Communication: Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership, cross‑functional model committees, and external auditors.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop and maintain dashboards that track model health, predictive accuracy, and business impact, driving continuous improvement cycles.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with data engineers, product managers, and compliance teams to embed risk‑aware practices throughout the model lifecycle; mentor junior analysts on best practices in model risk management.
- Regulatory Alignment: Stay abreast of evolving regulatory guidance (e.g., Basel III, GDPR, AI Ethics frameworks) and proactively adapt arenaflex’s model governance to meet or exceed expectations.
- Customer Advocacy: Ensure that model decisions enhance, rather than hinder, the customer journey, championing fairness and transparency in every interaction.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degrees (M.S. or Ph.D.) are a strong plus.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in model risk management, AI governance, or a comparable role within the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated expertise with large language models, machine‑learning pipelines, and statistical validation techniques.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing model risk (e.g., SR 11‑7, OCC guidelines) and experience implementing compliance controls.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with model‑monitoring tools (e.g., MLflow, TensorBoard).
- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of translating data‑driven insights into strategic business actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or Certified Model Risk Analyst (CMRA).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of ethical AI principles, bias mitigation techniques, and responsible AI frameworks.
- Background in fraud detection, credit risk modeling, or anti‑money‑laundering (AML) analytics.
- Ability to thrive in a remote‑first environment, demonstrating self‑discipline, proactive communication, and collaborative teamwork.
Core Competencies for Success
- Critical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex model outputs, identify hidden risks, and propose pragmatic solutions.
- Leadership & Influence: Drive cross‑functional initiatives, champion best practices, and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Adaptability: Navigate a rapidly changing AI landscape, quickly learning new technologies and regulatory updates.
- Customer‑Centric Mindset: Keep the end‑user experience at the heart of every model decision, ensuring fairness and transparency.
