Scientific Visual Designer (Editorial / Biotech / Biology / Chemistry) Art
• Note: This drug is in clincial trials so this is an approved product not snake oil. I note this because some people have had very appropriate concerns but this is a legitimate drug being monitored in it's trials by oncologists.
Overview
We are a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a new class of therapies designed to improve the effectiveness of widely used treatments in oncology and inflammatory disease. We are seeking a designer to create a set of clean, minimal, and highly credible scientific visuals for our website and decks. These are not traditional biotech graphics. The work should feel more like editorial or scientific journal design than illustration or marketing art. Scope of Work We are looking for up to 5 core visuals. 1. Oncology Mechanism A clear, structured visual that explains:
- How standard therapies (e.g., 5-FU) disrupt thymine
- How our drug increases uracil
- How uracil is incorporated into DNA, leading to DNA damage and cancer cell death
- Potentially how this activates the human immune system.
2. Platform / Inflammation Concept A conceptual visual that represents:
- Restoration of balance in a biological system
- Or before/after improvement (disordered → ordered)
3. (Optional / Bonus) Supporting visual elements or variations that can be used across the site Style Direction (Critical) Our CEO is not NOT looking for:
- Cartoon-like biology
- 3D rendered cells
- Glowing or “sci-fi” effects
- Overly complex or academic diagrams
That said, a level of creative sophistication using our brand color palette would be considered. We are looking for:
- Clean, minimal, diagram-based visuals
- Simple shapes and restrained use of color
- Light backgrounds and soft, modern palette
- Clear visual hierarchy and flow
- Designs that feel like:
- high-end editorial infographics
- scientific journal figures
- Apple-style product diagrams
The goal is to make complex science feel
clear, intelligent, and credible
.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- infographic or diagram design
- scientific, technical, or systems-based visuals
- Ability to simplify complex ideas into clear visual narratives
- Experience working with brand guidelines (color palette, typography)
- Proficiency in tools such as:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Figma
- or equivalent vector-based design tools
Nice to Have
- Experience in biotech, healthcare, or scientific communication
- Understanding of biology or medical concepts
- Experience designing visuals that may later be animated
Deliverables
- Up to 5 high-resolution visuals (web-ready + editable source files)
- Consistent visual system that can be extended across the site
--- Notes These visuals will become a core part of how we communicate our science publicly, so clarity, restraint, and credibility are essential. If we like the work we could move this into an AI video with your support, and order more images. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
