Principal Game Designer (Core Gameplay) - Midcore Studio
Role
- Take absolute ownership of the core gameplay experience, obsessing over the moment-to-moment interactions, pacing, and the fundamental "fun" factor of the game
- Craft and iterate intensely on core action loops (e.g., combat, shooting, or driving mechanics), focusing heavily on timing, collision, and player feedback.
- Tackle the most complex gameplay engineering challenges
- Drive technical prototyping for bold new core mechanics, finding the right game feel before scaling up
- Pitch and implement big features to the team, deconstructing them into smaller components
- Own core game mechanic balancing
- Always back up your ideas with available data points
- Be able to deconstruct and analyze mobile games mechanics
Profile
- At least 5+ years as a Game Designer, level design background is a massive plus
- Experience working on mobile games
- Accountability, independence, and responsibility when given ownership over your work
- Good sense of game feel, pacing with strong attention to detail
- Communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Passionate to learn new ways to perform your tasks in a more efficient way, and to improve yourself every day
- Actively integrates AI tools into daily workflows to enhance productivity and efficiency
