Fractional Accounting Consultant (Director or Controller)

Fractional Accounting Consultant (Director Level) Our client, an early-stage organization, is seeking a Fractional Accounting Consultant to provide ongoing financial oversight and support core accounting functions. This position is fully remote. The engagement has an initial duration of 4-6 months with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities:

• Oversee monthly close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance review
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and support ongoing accounting operations
• Review accounts payable workflows and ensure proper coding and process integrity
• Monitor financial data flows across systems and resolve any discrepancies or integration issues
• Support payroll accounting, including preparation and review of journal entries
• Adjust transaction timing and classification across accounting periods as needed
• Assist with light forecasting or budgeting activities during periodic planning cycles
• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting
• Identify and support opportunities for process improvements within accounting workflows

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in general ledger or operational accounting roles
• Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Experience operating independently in a fractional or part-time capacity
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems
• Experience with AP workflows and payroll accounting preferred
