Work from home Full-time role Hiring

CapIntel is a software platform built for wealth management enterprises to help financial advisors explain complex investment strategies to their clients. Advisors at some of the biggest banks across North America are winning trust by using CapIntel to easily compare investments and create compelling, educational presentations. Ultimately, we're focused on investors getting better service, understanding their investments, and feeling at ease knowing their future is secure. Since launching in 2019, CapIntel has seen rapid adoption and industry recognition, earning top placements in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Canada and Fast 500 North America in 2025, ranking us among the fastest-growing technology companies. To support this momentum, we’re growing our team rapidly—investing in people who drive innovation at scale to expand our impact across the North American wealth management industry.

About the Role

CapIntel is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our growing Data Team, where you’ll design and deliver the infrastructure that keeps our platform fast, reliable, and ready for what’s next. From robust data pipelines to scalable backend systems and API integrations, you’ll partner with cross-functional teams and lead the creation of solutions that power smarter financial systems.

What You'll Do

Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using TypeScript, Node.js, Temporal.io, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB. Architect storage solutions for structured and unstructured financial data, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability. Identify and drive performance optimizations across existing pipelines — profiling bottlenecks, improving throughput, and reducing latency at scale. Deploy, monitor, and optimize services on AWS, applying best practices for observability, cost efficiency, and fault tolerance. Drive technical excellence by writing clean, maintainable code supported by thorough unit and integration testing. Participate in and elevate code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning, setting a high bar for engineering quality. Contribute to the evolution of our backend development standards and processes. Partner closely with product, platform, and design teams to translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions. Support the development and maintenance of internal APIs where needed, ensuring reliability and consistency across integrations.

What We're Looking For

Strong computer science fundamentals — a deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, complexity, and system design that translates directly into well-architected, high-performance pipelines. Extensive experience developing and maintaining data pipelines in TypeScript or a comparable strongly-typed backend language, with the ability to hit the ground running in our TypeScript-first codebase. Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data-intensive systems, with a systematic approach to profiling and optimization. Expertise with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization. Strong background with cloud storage and monitoring services. Comfort with CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code. A track record of writing well-tested, reliable code and driving best practices across a team. Solid collaboration and communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have

Experience Experience in the financial services or wealth management industry, with exposure to financial data structures or reporting. Experience with Vector Search or RAG based systems. Familiarity with Temporal.io or similar workflow orchestration platforms. Experience with Python for backend scripting or data processing. Knowledge of search indexing technologies such as Elasticsearch. Exposure to data warehousing, analytics pipelines, or financial data normalization. Familiarity with AWS. At CapIntel, we design compensation with intention. Each role is assessed against the impact, skills, and experience it requires, and we align our pay to competitive market data so candidates know what to expect from the start.
