About the Opportunity The Executive Director, Strategy and Alignment - Enterprise Initiatives serves as a senior enterprise strategy architect and cross-program governance leader aligned to College Board's highest-priority horizontal strategies (Career, Rural, AI, and future enterprise initiatives). This role operates as a co-architect of enterprise strategy, partnering directly with enterprise and executive leaders to define priorities, clarify business models, resolve cross-program tradeoffs, and ensure measurable business and market impact. The Executive Director is accountable for translating horizontal enterprise strategy into integrated execution across AP, SAT, BigFuture, and other divisions - while designing the governance systems that enable coordinated, high-impact delivery. In addition to leading enterprise initiatives, this role defines and institutionalizes the Strategy & Alignment operating model across Engagement and Reach - establishing decision frameworks, portfolio management standards, performance expectations, and executive review structures that guide all Strategy & Alignment partners. In this role, you will: Serve as the Enterprise Strategy & Alignment Lead

  • Sit with enterprise leadership teams as a senior strategic partner and advisor
  • Co-develop enterprise priorities, growth hypotheses, and sequencing tradeoffs
  • Lead development of integrated EaR strategies aligned to enterprise business objectives
  • Resolve cross-program conflicts and clarify ownership across AP, SAT, BigFuture, and supporting divisions
  • Escalate strategic risks appropriately and recommend executive-level tradeoffs

Lead Enterprise Business Planning and Go-To-Market Strategy

  • Co-own annual and quarterly planning for enterprise initiatives
  • Translate enterprise strategy into coordinated product, sales, marketing, communications, and positioning plans
  • Identify enterprise growth opportunities across segments and programs
  • Define measurable impact frameworks tied to enterprise-level outcomes
  • Lead complex, high-visibility enterprise launches and pilots

Drive Enterprise Performance, Reporting, and Executive Visibility

  • Establish enterprise-level performance dashboards tied to executive scorecards
  • Lead regular performance reviews with enterprise and executive leadership
  • Surface underperformance, recommend reallocation, and guide tradeoff decisions
  • Ensure measurable movement in enterprise adoption, positioning, and growth indicators
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes at VP and ELT levels

What Success Looks Like By the end of the first 12 months, a successful Executive Director, EaR Strategy and Alignment will have:

  • Established themselves as a trusted enterprise strategy partner with strong VP- and ELT-level relationships.
  • Co-architected and operationalized integrated enterprise strategies aligned to measurable business and positioning outcomes.
  • Designed and implemented a unified governance and portfolio management model adopted across Strategy & Alignment roles.
  • Reduced time-to-market and cross-functional friction through clarified ownership and sequencing.
  • Delivered measurable movement in at least one enterprise growth vector (e.g., rural adoption expansion, career pathway recognition, AI thought leadership positioning tied to institutional partnerships).
  • Implemented executive-level dashboards and performance reviews that inform enterprise tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated influence over strategic prioritization and resource allocation decisions.

About You To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • 15+ years in business strategy, enterprise marketing, communications, product marketing, consulting, or related fields
  • Experience leading cross-enterprise strategy in complex, highly matrixed environments
  • Demonstrated success shaping horizontal strategies that cut across multiple product lines or business units
  • Strong enterprise marketing and go-to-market expertise
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and resolve high-stakes cross-functional tradeoffs
  • Experience designing governance models, decision frameworks, and portfolio management systems
  • Goal-, metric-, and data-oriented mindset with experience linking initiative metrics to business outcomes
  • Executive presence and credibility in high-ambiguity, high-visibility environments
  • Ability to operate autonomously while influencing without direct authority
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed

All roles at College Board require:

  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
  • A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and a comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal
  • A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving timely, respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.
  • A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.
  • A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success.
