About the Opportunity The Executive Director, Strategy and Alignment - Enterprise Initiatives serves as a senior enterprise strategy architect and cross-program governance leader aligned to College Board's highest-priority horizontal strategies (Career, Rural, AI, and future enterprise initiatives). This role operates as a co-architect of enterprise strategy, partnering directly with enterprise and executive leaders to define priorities, clarify business models, resolve cross-program tradeoffs, and ensure measurable business and market impact. The Executive Director is accountable for translating horizontal enterprise strategy into integrated execution across AP, SAT, BigFuture, and other divisions - while designing the governance systems that enable coordinated, high-impact delivery. In addition to leading enterprise initiatives, this role defines and institutionalizes the Strategy & Alignment operating model across Engagement and Reach - establishing decision frameworks, portfolio management standards, performance expectations, and executive review structures that guide all Strategy & Alignment partners. In this role, you will: Serve as the Enterprise Strategy & Alignment Lead
- Sit with enterprise leadership teams as a senior strategic partner and advisor
- Co-develop enterprise priorities, growth hypotheses, and sequencing tradeoffs
- Lead development of integrated EaR strategies aligned to enterprise business objectives
- Resolve cross-program conflicts and clarify ownership across AP, SAT, BigFuture, and supporting divisions
- Escalate strategic risks appropriately and recommend executive-level tradeoffs
Lead Enterprise Business Planning and Go-To-Market Strategy
- Co-own annual and quarterly planning for enterprise initiatives
- Translate enterprise strategy into coordinated product, sales, marketing, communications, and positioning plans
- Identify enterprise growth opportunities across segments and programs
- Define measurable impact frameworks tied to enterprise-level outcomes
- Lead complex, high-visibility enterprise launches and pilots
Drive Enterprise Performance, Reporting, and Executive Visibility
- Establish enterprise-level performance dashboards tied to executive scorecards
- Lead regular performance reviews with enterprise and executive leadership
- Surface underperformance, recommend reallocation, and guide tradeoff decisions
- Ensure measurable movement in enterprise adoption, positioning, and growth indicators
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes at VP and ELT levels
What Success Looks Like By the end of the first 12 months, a successful Executive Director, EaR Strategy and Alignment will have:
- Established themselves as a trusted enterprise strategy partner with strong VP- and ELT-level relationships.
- Co-architected and operationalized integrated enterprise strategies aligned to measurable business and positioning outcomes.
- Designed and implemented a unified governance and portfolio management model adopted across Strategy & Alignment roles.
- Reduced time-to-market and cross-functional friction through clarified ownership and sequencing.
- Delivered measurable movement in at least one enterprise growth vector (e.g., rural adoption expansion, career pathway recognition, AI thought leadership positioning tied to institutional partnerships).
- Implemented executive-level dashboards and performance reviews that inform enterprise tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated influence over strategic prioritization and resource allocation decisions.
About You To qualify for this role, you must have:
- 15+ years in business strategy, enterprise marketing, communications, product marketing, consulting, or related fields
- Experience leading cross-enterprise strategy in complex, highly matrixed environments
- Demonstrated success shaping horizontal strategies that cut across multiple product lines or business units
- Strong enterprise marketing and go-to-market expertise
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and resolve high-stakes cross-functional tradeoffs
- Experience designing governance models, decision frameworks, and portfolio management systems
- Goal-, metric-, and data-oriented mindset with experience linking initiative metrics to business outcomes
- Executive presence and credibility in high-ambiguity, high-visibility environments
- Ability to operate autonomously while influencing without direct authority
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed

About Our Process

- The hiring range for this role is $152,000 - $230,000.
