Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Corrugated Prepress Artist to join our packaging team. This position is responsible for preparing customer artwork for corrugated production by ensuring all files are accurate, press-ready, and built to customer and production specifications. The ideal candidate will work closely with Customer Service and production teams to support the timely delivery of high-quality packaging solutions. This is a highly technical graphics production role rather than a creative design position. Responsibilities include reviewing, correcting, and preparing customer-supplied artwork for corrugated printing applications. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to consistently follow technical specifications, production standards, and workflow procedures. Responsibilities
- Prepare and preflight customer files for corrugated packaging production
- Create and edit layouts using die lines, panel structures, bleeds, and safety zones
- Perform trapping, knockouts/overprints, rich black, and ink limit checks
- Build print-ready files for flexo and/or digital corrugated workflows
- Ensure correct barcodes, copy, sizing, and color requirements
- Convert, clean up, and redraw customer artwork when needed (logos, vector rebuilds, etc.)
- Manage file versions, naming standards, and job documentation
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and customers regarding file issues, corrections, and approvals
- Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Qualifications
- 1+ year experience in prepress for corrugated or packaging (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (required) and Photoshop.
- Experience working with die lines, box styles, and corrugated print constraints.
- Understanding of print production basics: spot colors, CMYK, overprint, trapping, and separations.
- Ability to interpret customer specs and production requirements accurately.
- Organized, detail-focused, and comfortable handling multiple jobs at once.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Esko tools (Automation Engine)
- Experience with flexographic prepress and plate-ready workflows
- Familiarity with PDF workflows and preflight tools
- Experience with digital corrugated systems and variable workflows
