About The Role IDS is seeking experienced Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developers to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expert-level knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, SQL, and PL/SQL to design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include managing the full lifecycle of Oracle database development, from data modeling and architecture to performance tuning and production support. You will play a crucial role in shaping the database architecture for high-volume, web-based applications serving Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The position offers opportunities to contribute to architecture decisions, develop detailed technical specifications, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, DevSecOps engineers, designers, and analysts. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work on Java Spring Boot microservices and modern front-end applications built with Angular and TypeScript, providing a comprehensive development experience.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience developing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in production environments. A strong understanding of Oracle performance tuning tools such as AWR, ASH, and execution plan analysis is essential. Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions, along with Git-based source control workflows, is required. Familiarity with database migration and version control frameworks such as Liquibase or Flyway is important. Candidates should have disciplined testing approaches, including experience writing unit tests for PL/SQL using tools like utPLSQL. Additional skills that are advantageous include experience with containerized deployment environments (Docker, Kubernetes), Java Spring Boot applications, modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue) with TypeScript, and cloud-hosted Oracle environments (AWS RDS, OCI). A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle development of Oracle databases, including data modeling, architecture design, SQL and PL/SQL programming, performance tuning, and production support.
- Design and implement efficient, scalable, and maintainable database solutions tailored for high-volume, web-based applications supporting DoD clients.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, providing technical insights and driving the implementation of enhancements across the product suite.
- Create and refine detailed technical analysis and design specifications based on functional and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including developers, DevSecOps engineers, designers, and analysts to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Develop reusable database objects emphasizing modularity and testability, ensuring code quality and consistency.
- Profile, optimize, and tune SQL queries and execution plans to achieve optimal performance at scale.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, peer review practices, and documentation norms to maintain high-quality deliverables.
- Support CI/CD pipeline integration for database change management using tools like Liquibase or Flyway.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database architecture and performance.
