Overview of the Role

As a Crisis Counselor at arenaflex, you will work from home, maintaining HIPAA compliance and focus, requiring a private office space. You will be responsible for speaking with consumers over the phone, connecting with people experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Building rapport and client engagement
• Assessing and mitigating risk, and managing documentation while on calls
• Providing available resources or information needed
• Identifying safe, positive ways of coping and/or developing a safety plan
• Emergency intervention that may be needed
• Remaining calm and professional while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:

* Respond to crisis calls and texts from individuals in need of support

• Conduct thorough assessments to identify the nature of the crisis and provide appropriate interventions
• Develop and implement crisis plans to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis
• Collaborate with other crisis counselors and support staff to ensure seamless communication and coordination
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions with clients
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited college or university

• 1 year of experience in 988 chat and text support or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in a related field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology)

• Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and other complex needs
• Certification in crisis intervention, such as QPR or ASIST
• Bilingual or multilingual skills
