Job Summary
As a 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist, you'll be part of a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team, handling incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL). You'll provide brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. This role requires a strong and diverse skillset, including crisis intervention, service linkage, and referrals for programs, services, and community resources.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments for individuals experiencing emotional distress
- Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
- Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation
- Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Six months to one year of related crisis experience
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, service linkage, and referrals for programs, services, and community resources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and trauma
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and trauma-sensitive practices
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
Skills and Competencies
* Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods
- Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

* Competitive salary range: $19.10 - $26.80 per hour
