About the Role

The Manager, Retail leads the operational execution and performance of Comfrt's Retail Distribution Center, ensuring every store receives the right product, in the right quantity, at the right time, with full inventory accuracy. This role owns the coordination of inventory shipments into and out of the Retail DC, replenishment and allocation flow to stores, and the day to day 3PL partnership that supports our retail warehouse operations. By driving accuracy, on-time store deliveries, and disciplined 3PL performance, this role directly impacts store sell through, in stock rates, margin, and the consistency of the Comfrt retail experience. Organisational Contribution & Influence The Manager, Retail serves as the operational anchor between the Retail DC, store teams, and HQ functions. This role partners closely with Planning, Buying, Retail Store Operations, Visual Merchandising, Finance, CX, and Tech to ensure inventory flows seamlessly from vendors and the ecomm DC into the Retail DC and out to stores. By owning 3PL performance scorecards, replenishment cadences, and structured issue resolution, this role drives alignment on priorities, surfaces inventory and shipment risks early, and ensures store feedback is integrated into DC processes. Through consistent communication and cross functional leadership, the position reinforces a culture of accuracy, operational excellence, and store first thinking that extends beyond the DC. Key Responsibilities 1. Retail DC Operations & 3PL Management (30%) Own day to day operations of the Retail DC, holding the 3PL accountable to inbound, outbound, UPH, and quality standards. Lead the operational cadence with the 3PL (daily huddles, WBR, MBR, QBR) and drive action against performance gaps. Partner on labor planning, volume forecasting, and peak readiness to ensure Retail DC capacity meets store demand. Own SOPs, process documentation, and continuous improvement for Retail DC workflows (receiving, put-away, pick, pack, ship). 2. Inventory Shipment Coordination (Inbound & Outbound) (25%) Coordinate inbound inventory shipments from vendors and the ecomm DC into the Retail DC, ensuring on-time receipt and clean put-away. Own outbound store shipment scheduling, routing, and freight execution to meet store replenishment and launch timelines. Partner with Planning and Buying on allocation, flow, and launch week readiness across the store fleet. Manage transfer lanes between the Retail DC, ecomm DC, and stores, including interstore transfers, recalls, and markdown moves. 3. Inventory Accuracy & Controls (20%) Own inventory accuracy at the Retail DC, including cycle counts, full physical inventories, and variance investigation. Establish and maintain shrink, damage, and adjustment targets with clear audit trails. Partner with Tech on WMS/OMS inventory integrity, system transactions, and data quality. Implement robust receiving, put-away, and quality control standards to minimize downstream store issues. 4. Cross Functional Collaboration & Alignment (15%) Serve as the HQ point of contact for stores on Retail DC shipments, timing, accuracy, and issue resolution. Partner with Retail Store Operations, VM, and Marketing on launch readiness, store activations, and in-store events. Collaborate with Finance on freight cost, inventory adjustments, and DC budget management. Provide timely, structured updates and reporting across HQ and store stakeholders. 5. Data, Reporting & Insight (5%) Analyze Retail DC throughput, accuracy, on-time store delivery, and freight cost to identify trends and opportunities. Partner with reporting teams on dashboards for Retail DC and store replenishment performance. Translate DC and shipment data into structured insights and action plans. Own the cadence and communication of Retail DC reporting to leadership. 6. Team Leadership & Development (5%) Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering accountability and continuous improvement. Build succession planning and skills development to maintain high performance. Organize team structures, meeting cadences, and coverage plans across peak and non peak periods. Skills & Experience Minimum 5 to 7+ years of progressive experience in retail distribution, DC operations, 3PL management, or retail supply chain. Proven track record leading 3PL partners against UPH, accuracy, and on-time performance at scale. Strong working knowledge of WMS/OMS systems, inbound/outbound processes, cycle counts, and inventory controls. Experience coordinating inventory shipments across multi-node networks (vendors → DC → stores, and transfers between nodes). Experience with freight / LTL execution to stores, carrier management, and store-delivery SLAs. Advanced proficiency with Excel/Sheets; comfort with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and retail inventory reporting. Experience in a high growth retail or DTC plus retail environment; Shopify / Shopify POS experience a plus. Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills with a track record of leading through partners. Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence both DC and HQ stakeholders. Qualities & Attributes Operator mindset. Equally comfortable on the DC floor, on a 3PL call, and in a Finance review. Detail-obsessed with a strong instinct for accuracy, controls, and root cause problem solving. Structured thinker who turns DC complexity into clear, repeatable playbooks. Data-driven decision maker with a bias toward action. Adaptable and calm under pressure, especially during launches, peak trade, and store openings. Proactive communicator who surfaces risks early and drives alignment on mitigation. Collaborative partner who builds trust with the 3PL, store teams, and cross functional stakeholders. Why Join Comfrt?
