Job Summary
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Associate, you'll work closely with our Revenue Recovery Department team to support various projects, including data entry, medical record retrieval, and report generation. You'll be responsible for retrieving patient medical records from various hospital systems, generating and preparing patient itemized bills, extracting and entering necessary information from/to hospital patient accounting systems, making phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities, and running and creating reports. You'll also assist with other information gathering or data entry tasks as needed by the recovery team.
Key Responsibilities
* Retrieve patient medical records from various hospital systems
- Generate and prepare patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits
- Extract and enter necessary information from/to hospital patient accounting systems
- Make phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain information needed on patients
- Run and create reports
- Assist with any other information gathering or data entry tasks as needed by the recovery team
- Scan and index documents
- Collaborate with the Revenue Recovery Department team to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports
- Perform other duties as assigned by the team lead or management
Essential Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, medical records, or business) preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical records or data entry role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, coding professionals, and billing specialists
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and hospital patient accounting systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a Revenue Integrity Services or Health Information Management role
- Certification in medical records or a related field (e.g., Certified Medical Record Specialist (CMRS) or Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA))
- Experience with data analysis and reporting, including creating and interpreting reports
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance, including HIPAA and ICD-10
- Experience working in a hybrid remote and in-office environment
