Business Development Director - Real world Evidence & HEOR
Role Overview This is a senior commercial role responsible for driving growth across a broad portfolio of Real‑World Evidence (RWE) services. The position leads the identification, development, and conversion of new business opportunities while acting as a trusted commercial partner to existing clients across pharma and biotech. The role covers a wide range of Phase IIIb/IV studies, post‑marketing programmes, registries, HEOR and data‑driven research , and requires someone confident initiating strategic, consultative discussions with senior stakeholders and decision‑makers. The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of consultative selling, strategic thinking, and relationship management, with the ability to translate complex client needs into tailored RWE solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and sustain senior‑level relationships within pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations to identify new RWE opportunities
- Proactively engage target accounts, positioning RWE capabilities in line with client development, regulatory and commercial objectives
- Initiate early‑stage discussions across a broad RWE portfolio, including but not limited to:
- Phase IIIb/IV and post‑marketing commitment studies
- Registries, natural history studies, long‑term follow‑up, PASS/PAES
- External comparator studies and decentralized study designs
- EMR‑only and retrospective data collection studies
- Early access programmes and extensions
- Medical device and in vitro diagnostic studies
- HEOR, secondary data analyses, and medical writing projects
- Partner closely with proposal development teams to shape strategy, scope, and budget throughout the bid process
- Collaborate with operational and functional leaders to ensure solution feasibility and alignment
- Develop and execute targeted RWE commercial strategies to drive awareness, lead generation, and pipeline growth
- Represent the organisation at industry conferences and client meetings
- Lead or participate in capability presentations and bid defense meetings
- Manage ongoing client relationships, ensuring consistent communication and high‑quality engagement
- Present opportunities internally and coordinate cross‑functional teams to progress and close complex deals
- Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting through CRM systems
- Monitor and deliver against agreed commercial metrics and targets
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or a related discipline
- Minimum
5 years’ experience in consultative RWE or clinical research sales
- Minimum
5 years’ experience within CRO, pharma, biotech, or life sciences services
- Strong understanding of RWE study design, applications, and client drivers
- Proven ability to engage credibly with senior scientific, medical, and commercial stakeholders
- Strategic mindset with excellent networking, communication, and influencing skills
