Senior NetSuite ERP Subject Matter Expert (Manufacturing) – Part Time / Contract
We are seeking a highly experienced NetSuite Manufacturing expert for a short‑term, part‑time engagement (approximately 3-6 months) to own and lead critical ERP implementation and configuration work. This role is designed for a top‑tier practitioner—someone who has “been there and done that” and can step in immediately, assess the environment, make confident design decisions, and execute hands‑on without a learning curve. We need a senior‑level NetSuite authority who can work independently, drive outcomes quickly, and establish a foundation that will scale long after the engagement ends. What Success Looks Like At the end of this engagement, NetSuite will be cleanly configured, aligned to manufacturing best practices, and ready to support operations, with clear documentation and handoff. Core Responsibilities NetSuite Ownership & Implementation Leadership
- Act as the temporary owner and architect of NetSuite, with authority to design, configure, and optimize the system end‑to‑end.
- Assess the current ERP state and define a clear implementation and configuration plan aligned with manufacturing best practices.
- Lead hands‑on configuration across NetSuite modules, with minimal reliance on external consultants.
- Make confident, opinionated decisions that prioritize simplicity, scalability, and operational discipline.
Manufacturing & Inventory Design
- Configure and validate manufacturing workflows, including:
- BOMs, routings, assemblies, and work orders
- WIP tracking, backflush vs standard processes
- Standard costing and variance structures
- Design and implement inventory traceability, including VIN / i‑VIN, serial, and lot tracking as required.
- Ensure system setup supports real‑world shop floor and operational realities.
Warehouse Structure & Automation
- Design warehouse location structures, transaction flows, and controls within NetSuite.
- Implement barcode‑driven inventory processes, including receiving, picking, WIP movement, and finished goods tracking.
- Advise on and configure integrations for warehouse automation tools, scanners, and barcode labeling.
- Ensure tight alignment between physical inventory movement and ERP transactions.
Financial & Manufacturing Accounting Setup
- Configure NetSuite financials to properly support manufacturing operations.
- Ensure inventory valuation, costing methods, and GL impacts are accurate and usable by Finance.
- Validate reporting, saved searches, and dashboards needed for leadership and operations.
Knowledge Transfer & Documentation
- Document system decisions, configurations, and operating assumptions.
- Provide clear guidance to internal owners to ensure continuity after the engagement.
- Serve as escalation point for high‑impact ERP questions during the contract period.
Required Expertise This role is intentionally scoped for a senior expert:
- 8–12+ years of ERP experience, with deep hands‑on NetSuite manufacturing expertise.
- Proven experience leading and owning NetSuite implementations, not just supporting them.
- Extensive experience with:
- Manufacturing modules
- Inventory traceability (VIN / i‑VIN, serial, lot)
- Warehouse design and barcode‑based processes
- Manufacturing accounting and costing
- Comfortable making decisions quickly and executing without heavy oversight.
