This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated attorney to gain valuable experience and advance their career with an established firm. The attorney will report to the Managing Immigration Attorney and manage their caseload while collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. Duties
- Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions.
- Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
- Manage a workload of diverse cases.
- Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
- Prepare immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
- Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
- Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients.
- Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
- Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of experience in immigration law.
- Team player open to collaboration and strategizing with associates.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases.
- Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
- Experience with case management software preferred.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
Certifications
- Admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico.
