Accountant (Month End Close Contractor)
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team as a Month End Close Contractor. Responsibilities
- Assist with the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, verifying transactions and processing payments efficiently.
- Conduct thorough review of financial data using accounting software such as Netsuite to ensure data integrity.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing accurate reports in compliance with securities law and governmental accounting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret financial reports, analyze variances, and provide insights for management decision-making.
- Contribute to audit preparations by organizing documentation and supporting auditors during review processes.
- Maintain detailed records of all accounting activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and external regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, interpretation, and analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Netsuite or similar platforms; experience with Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Familiarity with account reconciliation processes for general ledger accounts, bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow analysis.
- Ability to perform detailed journal entries, ledger management, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, accruals, budgeting, forecasting, and financial management principles.
- Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to interpret complex financial data clearly and effectively.
