Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding Industry

Job Summary:

As an Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean to develop and implement pricing programs, analyze carrier service, routings, and carrier performance, and support carrier service issues. You'll also serve as an ocean subject matter expert, supporting sales and operations, and communicating strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

* Execute strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and support adherence to our preferred network

• Assist in implementing pricing programs and reviewing volume targets, working closely with our TLM (Transportation and Logistics Management) team
• Develop and implement an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
• Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and work closely with our MD, Ocean, along with our Global Trade Lane team, Sales, and Operations to communicate direction and deliverables
• Direct and indirect customer contact will also be required, working closely with our Product, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures to minimize our company's risk exposure and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
• Work with our MD, Ocean, along with our Regional Ocean Management team, to promote our ocean product
• Support Sales and Operations as needed
• Manage annual budget; control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Work closely with our Marketing team to develop external and internal communications specific to our ocean product

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
