Overview
- The Firm is a specialized power engineering firm. The regulatory strategy, policy, and compliance group helps integrate engineering work products into the client’s regulatory environment, aligning technical work with regulatory requirements, compliance frameworks, and practical implementation.
- The Firm supports electric utilities, transmission owners and developers, infrastructure investors, and large energy users, including data center platforms, on complex, system-level matters.
- This is a non-practicing role designed for individuals with legal training in utility or energy regulation who are interested in applying that background in an advisory capacity. The role is structured as a long-term, career-oriented position for experienced professionals seeking to lead engagement delivery.
Duties
- Lead client engagements involving regulatory strategy, policy, and compliance matters across complex utility and infrastructure environments
- Lead preparation and development of regulatory analyses, filings support, and strategic advisory materials
- Interpret regulatory frameworks and translate requirements into actionable guidance for utility operations, compliance programs, and infrastructure initiatives
- Manage workstreams across complex engagements, integrating regulatory analysis with engineering work products and technical inputs
- Work directly with client legal, regulatory, engineering, and operational teams to develop practical, implementable solutions
- Lead or support development of regulatory positions and responses in high-stakes proceedings
- Develop structured work products, including requirements mapping, compliance frameworks, and analytical outputs
Qualifications
- J.D. or equivalent legal training
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility regulation, energy law, or related advisory roles; candidates with substantially greater experience are encouraged to apply
- Experience in one or more of the following environments:
- Law firm or regulatory practice
- Investor-owned utility
- Municipal or cooperative utility
- Federal or quasi-governmental entity
- Consulting or advisory organization
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex matters and translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance in operational or compliance contexts
- Strong drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with federal agencies, reliability organizations, or state public utility commissions
- Experience supporting or leading regulatory proceedings such as rate cases, rulemakings, or compliance matters
- Familiarity with reliability, risk, or compliance frameworks within electric utility environments

Compensation
- Compensation is commensurate with experience and level of engagement
