Contract Appearance Attorney - Probate (Remote, California Licensed)
Overview: Award-winning, close-knit estate planning and probate law firm seeking applicants for an attorney to make virtual probate court appearances on a contract basis. We are hoping to find a great candidate who is interested in the fulfillment of having an ongoing legal career in making court appearances while also having the flexibility to enjoy the other aspects of their life. These are not your typical high-stress court appearances. We make it easy. Compared to other practice areas, probate court appearances are generally low maintenance and low stress. They are done virtually. There are rarely surprises or any testimony. Our firm provides clear instructions and guidance. With tentative rulings and probate notes, we typically know exactly what will happen at the hearings. Much of the time, the attorney simply is monitoring that our petition is approved, with little to no need for the attorney to do much. We are looking to establish a long-term, ongoing professional relationship with an attorney for years to come. Someone we can regularly work with in offering contract appearances to, weeks in advance, on an ongoing basis. The attorney would have the flexibility to pick and choose which appearances they wish to make depending on their schedule. Hearings are done remotely with the court through video. The vast majority of appearances are in the morning, and typically last around an hour. Must be actively licensed as an attorney in California by the State Bar of California. We are looking for someone with probate experience and comfort in doing court appearances. Primarily, we are looking for someone reliable and easy to communicate with, who is interested in doing appearances on a regular basis.
Compensation
Remote appearances are compensated to contract attorneys on a flat fee basis of $150 per appearance. Between preparation and the court appearance, this will typically be equivalent to approximately $50 - $75+/hr. Ready to Apply? Interested candidates should provide the following: 1.
