Responsibilities
We are seeking a GIS Technician to drive innovation and efficiency across our infrastructure consultancy projects by supporting them remotely. In this role, you will collect, maintain, analyze, and visualize geospatial data to support planning and decision-making across various projects. You will create and update geodatabases, perform spatial analyses, and produce accurate maps and reports. The GIS Technician collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, ensures data quality and consistency, and promotes the effective use of geospatial information throughout the organization. We envisage success in this role to include: Creating, updating, and maintaining GIS databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. Collecting, compiling, and processing spatial data from various sources (CAD, BIM, Raster, or satellite imagery, plans, and digitize data into GIS-compatible formats). Performing spatial analyses and geoprocessing, including overlays, proximity analyses, conversions, georeferencing, and project-specific thematic or topographic analyses. Producing maps, reports, charts, and other visualizations to support planning, decision-making, and infrastructure activities. Developing and implementing GIS based solutions to track and manage infrastructure projects. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, provide GIS support and interpret geospatial data for various stakeholders. Ensuring compliance with mapping standards, metadata requirements, and technical guidelines, and perform quality control to maintain data accuracy
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum 3 years of professional experience in GIS, preferably within infrastructure design consultancy, partnered with Bachelor’s in Geography, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering, or related field. Certification in GIS tools will be looked upon favourably. Proficiency in GIS software, including Esri ArcGIS suite and QGIS. Experience with CAD software, familiarity with BIM is highly valued. Knowledge of Python, SQL, or similar programming languages for data analysis and automation is a plus. Strong skills in spatial data analysis, visualization, and cartography. Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams. Hands-on experience in creating, updating, and maintaining GIS databases. Experience collecting, processing, and integrating spatial data from multiple sources (CAD, BIM, aerial/satellite imagery, plans, digitized data). Proven experience performing spatial analyses and geoprocessing (overlays, proximity analyses, conversions, georeferencing, thematic/topographic analyses).
