Experienced Ocean Product Development Specialist – International Freight Forwarding Industry

Job Summary:

As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes, enhancing the development of our ocean product, and driving business growth through strategic planning, analysis, and execution. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to develop and implement strategies that maximize competitiveness, enhance service, and achieve volume targets. Key Responsibilities:

* Support the growth of ocean volumes by developing and implementing strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality

• Work closely with the MD of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction, deliverables, and market conditions
• Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Gather, analyze, and report information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
• Work with the MD of Ocean, regional ocean management team, and marketing to promote the ocean product and develop external and internal communications
• Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
• Support sales and operations as needed, and provide direct and indirect customer contact

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., logistics, transportation, business administration)

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field

• Additional experience in the logistics industry, particularly in ocean freight forwarding
• Knowledge of ocean freight forwarding software and systems
• Experience in developing and implementing pricing programs and strategies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
