Job Summary

As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes and enhancing the development of our ocean product. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, as well as our global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate strategy, market conditions, and deliverables. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of our ocean product

• Work closely with the MD of Ocean to develop and implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality
• Analyze carrier service, routings, and carrier performance to identify areas for improvement
• Support sales and operations as an ocean subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise on ocean-related matters
• Implement and communicate pricing programs to maximize revenue and competitiveness
• Review volume targets and work with the TLM to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations
• Communicate both internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and deliverables
• Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity
• Submit reports as required to stakeholders, including the MD of Ocean, regional ocean management team, and sales and operations
• Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product
• Manage annual budget, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

• At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing
• Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office apps
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree or equivalent

• 10+ years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry
• Experience working with ocean carriers and negotiating rates
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with data analysis and reporting
• Familiarity with logistics software and systems
