Lead Buyer - Indirect Materials
Our client, a rapidly growing hospitality group, is seeking an experienced Lead Buyer specializing in indirect materials to join their strategic procurement team. This hybrid role combines essential on-site collaboration with flexibility for remote work, focusing on optimizing the acquisition of goods and services critical to operational success. You will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effectiveness for a wide range of indirect spend categories, including MRO, facilities, IT, and professional services. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of indirect procurement dynamics. Key Responsibilities: Lead sourcing initiatives for various indirect spend categories, identifying opportunities for cost savings and value enhancement. Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure a reliable supply of goods and services while maintaining competitive pricing. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, establishing strong, long-term partnerships. Manage supplier performance, conducting regular reviews to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and service level agreements. Analyze spend data to identify trends, opportunities for consolidation, and potential cost-saving measures. Collaborate effectively with internal departments (e.g., Operations, Finance, IT, HR) to understand their procurement needs and align strategies. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Research market trends and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions. Develop and maintain a supplier database and track key performance indicators (KPIs). Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the procurement team as needed. Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with a significant focus on indirect materials. Proven experience in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contract management. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in spend analysis. Familiarity with e-procurement systems and ERP software. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives. Experience in the hospitality or service industry is a plus. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
