Remote Lead Agronomist, Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives
Our client, a forward-thinking organization dedicated to advancing sustainable practices in the agriculture sector, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Agronomist to spearhead their remote-first initiatives. This role is crucial for developing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance crop yields, soil health, and environmental stewardship across diverse farming operations. As the Lead Agronomist, you will be instrumental in designing and overseeing research projects, providing expert guidance on best agricultural practices, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to optimize farming outcomes. Your responsibilities will include conducting virtual field assessments, analyzing soil and crop data, and developing tailored recommendations for farmers and agricultural partners. You will lead a team of remote agronomists and technical experts, fostering a collaborative environment focused on problem-solving and knowledge sharing. This position requires a deep understanding of plant physiology, soil science, pest management, and modern irrigation techniques. You will also be involved in developing training materials and conducting virtual workshops for stakeholders. A key aspect of this role is staying abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural technology, including precision farming, biotechnology, and data analytics, and evaluating their potential application. You will contribute to grant proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for sustainable agriculture. The ability to effectively communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences, both written and verbal, is essential. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US, with occasional travel for essential meetings or site visits. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in agronomy, crop management, and sustainable farming practices. Proven experience in leading teams and managing projects, preferably in a remote setting. Deep knowledge of soil health, plant nutrition, integrated pest management (IPM), and water management. Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies, GIS, and data analysis software. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly. Experience in developing and delivering training programs or workshops. Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
