Job Summary

As a Principal Engineer – Data Analytics & Science, you'll lead a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and direction to drive the development of our data analysis and science capabilities. You'll be responsible for shaping our data strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products and services that meet the needs of our business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, sharing best practices, and encouraging a culture of continuous learning and development

• Drive the adoption of current software practices through code reviews and design sessions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop scalable, secure, and reliable data systems
• Develop and maintain complex data models and reporting structures, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security
• Drive the development of data-driven solutions, leveraging cloud technologies, such as ADLS, Databricks, and Delta-Lake
• Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, and IT experts to develop comprehensive data solutions
• Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging experimentation, and learning from failures
• Develop and maintain documentation for data analysis processes, reporting structures, and data models
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs, develop data-driven solutions, and measure the impact of data-driven decisions
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices, evaluating their relevance to our business

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Science, or related field

• 15+ years of experience in data analysis and science, with a strong background in leadership and technical expertise
• 5+ years of experience in cloud technologies, such as ADLS, Databricks, and Delta-Lake
• Advanced skills in data analysis tools, languages, ML, and systems (e.g., Conos, PowerBI, SQL, Python, R)
• Experience working with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, to design and develop scalable and efficient data analysis solutions
• Strong understanding of Lakehouse engineering principles, combining the best of data lakes and data warehouses for robust and flexible data management
• High-level SQL skills, with a strong understanding of social data sets and business data capacity to write complex SQL queries against various data sources
• Experience managing high-volume and high-speed data streams, and designing systems that can handle the demands of real-time or near-real-time analysis
• Experience in shaping the strategic vision for data analysis and science drives within an organization
• Effective management of data analysis projects, including planning, execution, and delivery
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Science, or related field

• Important industry certifications are a plus
• Experience in retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, or supply chain management
