This position is located at the JOHN D DINGELL DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER in Detroit, MI, and services a Recreation Assistant-Medical Yoga Instructor, working with the pain management team. This position is responsible for providing medical yoga therapy for the purpose or promoting, restoring, and preserving health and well-being of Veterans at the VA Medical Center.
Overview
- Accepting applications
- Prepare and set up yoga setting and equipment
- Instructions Veterans on the safe use of yoga equipment
- Conducts well-being classes, either group or individual to promote, preserve, or restore health and well-being
- Conducts regular inventories of equipment and supplies
- Compiles, prepares, and submits records, reports and requests concerning participation, material and equipment purchase, and inventories
- Refers patients appropriately when mental or physical issues are out of the scope of practice of the yoga instructor
- Provide accurate instruction in the areas of Yoga
- Serves as consultant to leadership on issues surrounding yoga
- Participates in meetings to report progress on patients, programs and interventions
- Acts as mentor to medical yoga trainees
- Certification: eryt200 preferred
