The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is dedicated to ensuring equitable access to high-quality health care for Californians. The Legal Administrative Support role involves providing clerical and administrative assistance to the Help Center Legal Affairs Branch, requiring initiative and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a variety of clerical duties in support of the LAB ACCs
  • Performing difficult administrative and clerical work
  • Assist LAB ACCs and staff
  • Exercise a high degree of initiative, confidentiality, good judgment, and independence
  • Perform support duties with minimal supervision
  • Work under pressure to meet deadlines

Skills

  • General knowledge of health care service plans pursuant to the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975 (KKA) and Title 28 of the California Code of Regulations, Evidence of Coverages, and program policies and procedures
  • Ability to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, confidentiality, good judgment, and independence
  • Ability to perform support duties with minimal supervision and at times work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required to maintain consistency of services
  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment
  • If using education to meet the minimum qualifications, a copy of high school transcripts or college/university transcript(s) must be submitted
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing and possess good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and flexibility
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Excellent attendance and dependability
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Work experience in health care, insurance, and/or law preferable
  • Work experience in performing clerical duties
  • Knowledge and skill with PCs, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Database Systems, Adobe etc
