The Opportunity

The function of the Parking and Transportation Operator is to perform services essential to parking management, customer transport (pick-up and delivery) on campus and within the city of Golden, parking enforcement, customer service, vehicle traffic control and other duties necessary in support of the Parking and Transportation's overall mission. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate different situations and/or conflicts that might arise.

Responsibilities
CUSTOMER TRANSPORT
- Comply with all relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations.
- Arrange to pick up customers or groups on a regular schedule.
- Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicles and help them with any luggage or other items (e.g., strollers, wheel chairs, bikes).
- Communicate with dispatchers by radio or computer to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.
- Operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts, to transport and secure passengers with additional needs.
- Assist diverse customers of all abilities in and out of the vehicle.
- Maintain assigned equipment and supplies such as citation computers, radios/cell phones, mobile printers, citation supplies.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as regulating tire pressure and adding gasoline, oil, and water.
- Vacuum and clean interiors and wash and polish exteriors of automobiles.
- Notify appropriate parties of vehicle problems.
- Enter and retrieve information pertaining to vehicle registration, identification, and parking credential status, using hand-held computers.
- Patrol an assigned area by vehicle to ensure public compliance with existing parking regulations.
- When vehicles are not in compliance of established parking regulations, this position will issue warnings and citations to violators (as needed).
- This position may install vehicle immobilization equipment to those vehicles deemed to have committed chronic rule infractions.
- Patrol campus grounds for parking infractions and other issues that impede ingress and egress routes.
- Provide customer service at the front desk as needed, answering phones and customer emails.
- Explain the Parking Rules & Regulations, provide options to customers with citations.
- Sell permits to campus and non-campus customers.
- Receive payment for issued citations.
- Provide officer statement on citation appeals.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
- Three (3) years of driving experience including that may include driving passenger vans, school buses, and/or equivalent service transportation vehicles.
- One (1) year of demonstrated customer service experience, preferably related to driving of transportation vehicles.
- Candidates must have a valid and current Colorado Driver's License at time of application.
- Four or more years of transportation driving experience;
- Certified CDL driver;
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals of different lived experiences and abilities;
- Experience with Microsoft including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Shifts will vary depending on business need. Business hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Monday- Friday) and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Saturday).
- Must be able and willing to maintain a current Colorado driver's license.
- Background check and MVR.
- Must be able and willing to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Pre-employment screening: Successful completion of the background check process, drug screening, and a Motor Vehicle Record review
- Three year, term-limited position with the possibility of extension as funding allows.
