Department Summary
The Recreational Sports Department at UNT strives to provide the kind of recreational experiences that not only support the wellness of the UNT community but inspire it. The activities are provided through intramural sports, informal recreation, group exercise, sport clubs, esports, fitness, faculty/staff fitness, special events, outdoor pursuits and aquatics.
Position Summary
Hiring for all formats, but specifically looking for dance, yoga, strength, cycle and Pilates. This position will be employed though May 2024 with the possibility of extension based on need.
- Provide safety and supervision to class participants
- Provide fitness equipment and safety instruction as needed to class participants
- Must attend all staff meetings, trainings, and workshops
- Stay after and arrive to class at least 15 minutes early to assist participants as needed
- Handle all injuries, accidents, and emergency situations as needed
- Answer questions regarding the policies and procedures
- Attend continuing education to keep certifications current and keep up with trends
- Use appropriate technology to to check in all participants for each class
- Enforce fitness policies and procedures to provide a safe environment
- Other duties as assigned
- Current Group Fitness Certification from AFAA, ACE, or other specialty certification upon approval from assistant director or the ability to obtain within the first six months of hire
- Current CPR/FA certification or ability to attain within one month
- Current Group Exercise Certification from AFAA, ACE, or other specialty certification upon approval from assistant director or the ability to obtain within the first six months of hire
