LOCATION: Fitzgerald High School
WORK YEAR: 2023-2024 School Year
SALARY: Per FEA Contract
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
- Special Education Endorsement in SM, SE, SA or SV preferred
- Eligible for or have Michigan Teacher Consultant approval required
- Master?s Degree in related field required
- 3 years teaching experience; 3 years in Special Education required
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Highly Effective Evaluation preferred
- Experience in a Leadership Role preferred
- Evidence of Exceptional Organization Skills required
- Conduct career assessment and counseling and assist in career exploration activities
- Assist in work/job preparation training which may include job shadowing, onsite work training, work/study placement development
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities that is designed to meet their individual transition needs.
- Develop curriculum, design and implement lesson plans, and assess student progress.
- Disseminates information to staff, students, and parents regarding student needs, progress, and resources.
- Coordinates transition activities for college, career, and community readiness
- Manages IEPs for assigned caseload; coordinates and facilitates IEP meetings, writes IEPs, and communicates with general education teachers and support staff.
- Facilitates referral, applications, eligibility process for student and families to adult service providers.
- Assists with alignment of transition continuum of services at the secondary level.
- Maintain and grow strong public relations with community partners
- Monitor and provide professional development to staff on the MDEs B13 compliance
- Participate in professional development and implement best practice.
- Other duties as assigned.
