We seek a colleague who excels in both teaching and research. Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach assigned undergraduate courses in research methods, scientific writing, or basic psychological processes (e.g., motivation, learning, data science, cognition). Ideal candidates will also be prepared to teach graduate courses in their area of expertise and maintain an active research program that advances knowledge in any subfield of psychology. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic community/department/program. Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Psychology or related behavioral science discipline (e.g., human development, data science, organizational behavior). Terminal degree must be completed by first day of employment.
• Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Record of teaching contributions in research methods, scientific writing, or basic psychological processes (as a graduate student, post-doc, or faculty member).
• Active record of scholarship related to one of the graduate programs within the Department of Psychology at SF State.
• Record of teaching, research, and/or service contributions that align with SF State's commitment to social justice, inclusion, and equity.
• Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities.

SF State is a member of the California State University system and serves a diverse student body; SF State currently holds federal designations as both an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI) and a Hispanic serving institution (HSI). The Department of Psychology serves over 1,000 undergraduate and 150 graduate students. The majority of faculty within the Department of Psychology collaborate within graduate program concentrations to provide exceptional graduate training. o Concentration in Developmental Psychology o Concentration in Mind, Brain, & Behavior o Concentration in Social, Personality, & Affective Science Responsibilities The position requires both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Undergraduate course topics will include our core courses of Research Methods or Scientific Writing, and/or our elective courses addressing basic psychological processes (e.g., Motivation, Learning, Data Science, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Development, Memory, Psycholinguistics, Perception). Graduate teaching responsiblities are assigned based upon expertise and faculty interest. A broad set of graduate course topics are available across any of our graduate programs. Additionally, the position requires mentoring and advising both undergraduate and graduate students; developing an active ongoing research program in one's area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments within the Department of Psychology. Compensation The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is: $87,000 to $89,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $7,250 to $7,417 per month. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
