Job title: ParaProfessional - Title I - Federal Programs Company: West Ada School District Job description: ParaPro Praxis testing dates are offered at the school district throughout the year to West Ada ParaProfessional applicants. Test should be passed within 90 days of hire. Once the Praxis test is passed, reimbursement of the cost of the test is available through the district.

PURPOSE Assists a Title I teacher with classroom, testing, and administrative duties; performs related work as required. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide administrative and classroom support to an assigned Title I program teacher. The position is directly supervised by a Title I teacher, with direction from the building Principal. The primary duties of the position are performed in an office and classroom environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Performs administrative and classroom assistance functions to support teachers in the Title I program;
  • Provides tutoring, individual and group assistance, and direction to eligible students;
  • Prepares and implements lesson plans;
  • Assists with level testing to determine student eligibility;
  • Processes registration, attendance, evaluation, and related records for eligible students;
  • Prepares and maintains files, records, logs, reports, and other required program documentation;
  • Performs administrative tasks including, but not limited to, keyboarding, copying, and filing;
  • Assists in classroom, as directed;
  • Assists in preparation of classroom and teaching materials, as directed;
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safety practices;
  • May perform lunchroom, playground, bus and other monitoring duties as assigned;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of:
  • Instructional methods, procedures, and objectives, including curriculum implementation, lesson plan preparation and implementation, educational software, student evaluation and grading, record and report preparation, and classroom management;
  • Basic clerical and administrative skills, including but not limited to typing, keyboarding, filing, and copying;
  • Operation of standard office equipment, including a personal computer and job-related software.
Ability to:
  • Follow oral and written instructions and observe District policies and procedures;
  • Prepare and provide basic classroom services, including but not limited to, instruction, tutoring, student evaluation, lesson plans, curriculum implementation, materials preparation, and classroom management;
  • Operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer using program applications appropriate to assigned duties;
  • Operate classroom equipment;
  • Perform basic office tasks including keyboarding, copying, and filing;
  • Prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, and documentation;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel;
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set task priorities;
  • Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Highly Qualified status required: have 32+ college credits, have a college degree, or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 460+;
  • Classroom experience is preferred; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person, and to hear sounds within the normal range of conversation;
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and comprehend, prepare, and present a variety of written and text documents and materials;
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer;
  • Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to stand or sit for long periods of time, kneel, stretch, bend, reach, lift at least 30 pounds, and work in a classroom environment.
EVALUATION Yearly by supervisor TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT To be determined by calendar year. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
