Substation Physical Drafter 1 -- Grid
Sargent & Lundy is a company that offers a hybrid work arrangement, and they are seeking a Substation Physical Drafter 1. This role will involve utilizing drafting skills in a multi-disciplined team environment to prepare design drawings, while receiving training in 3D design software and proprietary design databases.
Responsibilities
- Utilize and expand drafting skills in a multi-disciplined team environment
- Prepare design drawings based on design input
- Apply computer-aided drafting skills and receive hands-on training in 3D design software environments, such as AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation
- Create master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions
- Accompany and assist experienced designers on walkdowns at client facilities to gather information for design projects
- Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings and make appropriate design adjustments
Skills
- An Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience
- Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
- Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances
- Ability to multi-task from project to project
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of a computer
- An Associates Degree in Computer Aided Design
- Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
