Overview

DLH is seeking a Global Community Engagement Coordinator to support community engagement in the ACTG Clinical Trials Network (Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV/AIDS and Other Infections), one of the world's largest and longest-running clinical trials networks focused on HIV, other infectious diseases, and those living with them.

The ACTG is composed of 59 sites, approximately half of which are in the US and half overseas in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The concerns of the many communities impacted by HIV, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, and emerging infectious diseases (including COVID-19 and mpox) are represented within the ACTG at the national and international levels by the Global Community Advisory Board (GCAB) and at the local level by Community Advisory Boards (CABs) at each Clinical Research Site (CRS).

The community participates directly in ACTG activities, contributing their knowledge, perspectives, and lived experiences to the determination of ACTG scientific priorities, planning studies, recruiting study participants, and conducting outreach. This position fosters community collaboration among community members by providing logistical, communication, and informational support.

This individual will serve as a member of the Leadership Support Group of the ACTG Network Coordinating Center (NCC), based at DLH. They are expected to collaborate intensively with the other five members of the group; the group lead will provide guidance and mentorship on NCC and ACTG procedures. The Global Community Engagement Coordinator will report directly to the NCC Director.

  • Works with ACTG LOC to facilitate the arrangement of GCAB and CSS travel to ACTG meetings.
  • Responds to requests from ACTG leaders to provide presentations, training, and other informational sessions.
  • Distributes draft protocols to the CAB, collects their responses, and provides them to the CSS representative on the protocol team.
  • Collects and collates articles and content for the quarterly CAB Newsletter and coordinates production at the NCC.
  • Maintains and updates the CAB Handbook annually.
  • Facilitates and maintains assignment of Community (i.e., CSS or GCAB) representation on network committees and protocols.
  • Mentors others in community engagement as needed.
