Tele-Optometry Manager (all genders)

We are looking for a Tele-Optometry Manager who will lead, develop and scale the Tele-Optometry services across the VisilabGroup (Visilab, Kochoptik, McOptic). This role is responsible for team leadership, service quality, strategic development, cross-functional alignment, and the continuous expansion of tele-optometry within the Swiss optical retail environment.

You will act as the ambassador and key driver of Tele-Optometry, ensuring operational excellence, strong performance, high-quality customer experience, and sustainable growth.

Main responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management

-Lead, develop and mentor the growing Teleoptometrist team (performance management, coaching, objective setting).

-Managing hybrid employees store/teleoptometry and freelancer/teleoptometry. -Ensure strong professional standards, clinical quality, and adherence to all legal requirements (GesBG, cantonal health laws). -Create a culture of collaboration, accountability, and customer-centricity. -Plan workforce needs and optimize scheduling to ensure coverage and capacity. -Support team members in complex clinical cases and act as escalation point.

  • Professional & Clinical Responsibilities

-Perform virtual (and in-person) eye examinations to maintain credibility, service insight, and clinical excellence. -Ensure high quality and safety in all tele-optometry processes. -Oversee systematic referrals to ophthalmologists in case of abnormalities. -Monitor clinical KPIs and proactively address deviations. -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal frameworks, clinical guidelines, and technological developments.

  • Training & Development

-Define, develop, and maintain the training framework for Teleoptometrists and store teams. -Oversee the creation of guidelines, SOPs???, and educational content. -Ensure consistent onboarding, skills development, and upskilling of the team. -Provide coaching to store teams to increase tele-optometry readiness and competence.

  • Store & Business Support

-Act as the main ambassador for Tele-Optometry across all stores (Visilab, Kochoptik, McOptic). -Strengthen relationships with Store Managers, Area Sales Managers and IT. -Drive store engagement, service adoption, and booking volume. -Conduct store visits and on-site presence days to support teams and improve collaboration. -Monitor store-level KPIs (capacity, appointments, exam volumes, conversion). -Identify underperforming stores and implement improvement measures together with field leadership.

  • Strategy, Processes & Optimization

-Shape and implement the strategic roadmap for Tele-Optometry and future tele-health services. -Identify opportunities for improvements in systems, tools, workflows, and processes. -Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects (IT, Retail, Clinical, Training, Marketing). -Optimize appointment management processes for maximum capacity utilization. -Ensure alignment with VG Management and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Reporting, Analytics & Interfaces

-Deliver regular reporting on KPIs, capacity, performance, service quality, customer satisfaction. -Present insights and recommendations to leadership teams. Ensure strong interfaces to:

  • VisilabGroup Management (strategic alignment, reporting)
  • Managing Director, Sales Director
  • Area Sales Managers
  • Store Managers and store teams
  • IT / Digital, HR, Operations
  • HR BP
  • Ophthalmologists and medical partners
  • Federal and Cantonal Authorities (compliance topics)

Main requirements

-Completed degree in Optometry, Ophthalmic Optics, or equivalent qualification. -Valid professional license in Switzerland. -Extensive experience in optical retail and clinical practice (incl. refraction and diagnostics). -Multi-year leadership experience (team management or store management). -Knowledge of Federal Office of Public Health FOPH and cantonal health regulations. -Ideally multilingual: German, French, English (Italian is an advantage). -Strong communication, influencing, and change-management skills. -Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and act on KPIs. -High level of autonomy, organizational strength, and problem-solving ability. -Willingness to travel across Switzerland (Visilab, Kochoptik, McOptic, HQ).
