What We Look For In a Russian Tutor
- Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of Russian Cyrillic alphabet, noun declensions across six cases, verb conjugation including aspect pairs, adjective agreement, pronunciation rules, vocabulary development, and Russian cultural literacy. Ability to explain genitive, dative, and instrumental case usage, perfective and imperfective aspect distinctions, and verbs of motion while preparing students for academic or professional Russian proficiency.
- Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching Cyrillic reading and writing, case system application, and aspect pair usage in Russian. Guides students through declining nouns and adjectives, selecting correct verb aspects, constructing complex sentences, and reading Russian literary and journalistic texts. Emphasizes communication practice and connects Russian language to literature, history, and business opportunities in Russian-speaking regions.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Russian language curricula and common challenges such as mastering the six-case declension system, understanding verbal aspect, and developing Cyrillic reading fluency. Adapts instruction using case usage charts, aspect pair drilling, and authentic Russian texts and media to support learners from alphabet introduction through advanced students preparing for TORFL certification or academic study.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
