Underwriting Associate I
Western National Insurance Group is a private mutual insurance company with over 120 years of experience in property-and-casualty insurance. The Underwriting Associate I will assist the Commercial Lines Operations Team in profitable premium growth by processing policies and providing technical support for new and renewal business.
Responsibilities
- Assists underwriters in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions
- Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority level
- Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations while applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures
- Applies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity
- Communicates with assigned agencies and underwriters, creating and delivering varied types of messages and information
Skills
- Knowledge of property-and-casualty industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts
- Proven analytical skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and solve basic problems
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time well
- Bachelor's degree in insurance or finance, or equivalent related experience
- AU and / or INS certification preferred
