Job Overview

The Provider Data Entry Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of provider demographic and contract affiliation information within our health plan system. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, efficiency in processing incoming requests, and a strong understanding of healthcare operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the precision and timeliness of data entry, conducting regular audits, and providing documented feedback to optimize our system's performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and validate provider information from external sources for system updates, applying knowledge and experience to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform accurate and efficient data entry and maintenance of provider records in our computer system, emphasizing precision and timeliness.
  • Conduct regular audits of loaded provider records to ensure quality and financial accuracy, providing documented feedback when necessary.
  • Support system/health plan integration efforts and participate in training existing staff and new hires.
  • Assist in system-related testing activities to ensure optimal performance and identify areas for improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in healthcare operations, with at least 1+ years of managed care experience and/or medical office experience in coding or credentialing. A High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required. Additionally, you should demonstrate:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adhere to blithequark's policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on precision and timeliness in data entry and maintenance.
  • Reliable attendance and a commitment to maintaining a schedule based on the agreed-upon hours (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM EST).
  • Understanding and compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers, and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting working in provider credentialing or a related position.
  • Familiarity with claims, coding, or credentialing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
