About the Position

Our Customer Engineering team is a unique and exciting group that focuses on providing exceptional customer experiences through engineering activities. As a Full Stack Customer Engineer, you will be part of a team that collaborates with the Customer Success team to resolve customer-reported issues quickly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include monitoring internal systems, providing technical support, analyzing logs, reproducing customer-reported issues, debugging, implementing solutions, and enhancing services.

Responsibilities

As a Full Stack Customer Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Responding promptly to technical inquiries from the Customer Success team
  • Investigating the mechanisms and causes of customer-reported issues
  • Developing solutions or workarounds for technical challenges faced by customers
  • Collaborating with the Engineering team to resolve complex issues through team-based efforts
  • Contributing directly to the codebase to improve products and services
  • Sharing insights on product-related knowledge and commonly reported issues to support the Customer Success team
  • Representing customers and partners, and advocating for their voices to drive feature requests
  • Participating in incident processes and contributing to incident response efforts
  • Communicating directly with customers as needed

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong passion for customer-facing work and a desire to solve real-world problems using technology and creativity
  • A deep understanding of programming languages and systematic debugging
  • Familiarity with HTTP, WWW, REST, SQL, logs, tracing, and observability
  • Proficiency in English and Japanese, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages
  • A Japanese language proficiency level of N2 or higher
  • Experience with payment systems, payment-related applications, or other relevant areas

Nice to Haves

While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Familiarity with Datadog, Shopify, PHP, TypeScript, Amazon Web Services, Docker, or other relevant technologies
  • Experience with complex software debugging and code modification
  • Experience with experimental-based research or academic projects
  • CEFR B1 level or higher in English
  • Interest in foreign languages and cultures, with a willingness to continue learning
