Job Overview

In this full-time, 40-hour per week contract position, you will be responsible for reviewing Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), resolving patient medical billing inquiries, collecting payments, and assisting with patient inquiries regarding their medically billed charges. As a remote worker, you will need to have a quiet and dedicated workspace, a reliable computer and phone, and high-speed internet. Your excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills will enable you to provide friendly and professional support to patients, ensuring a positive experience and resolving issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze EOBs to resolve patient medical billing inquiries and collect payments
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Utilize electronic medical systems to manage patient data and resolve billing inquiries
  • Participate in online team meetings and company Q&A forums to stay updated on project developments and best practices
  • Maintain accurate time tracking and reporting, meeting daily quality and productivity quotas
  • Navigate personal and remote desktop systems simultaneously, ensuring seamless workflow and efficient issue resolution
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to achieve project goals and objectives, contributing to the overall success of the team

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in the healthcare or insurance industry
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to read and understand EOBs and follow up on denials and appeals
  • Strong verbal, written, and social communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Previous experience working with electronic medical systems and navigating multiple software programs
  • High-speed internet and a reliable Windows-based computer (no Chromebooks), as well as a personal phone
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with a quiet and dedicated workspace
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during Hawaii Standard Time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in health insurance billing and medical coding
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
  • Previous experience working in a contract or freelance capacity, with a strong understanding of 1099 employment
  • Excellent computer skills, with the ability to navigate multiple systems and software programs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently
