Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Upper Level Math Tutor to join our team in Defiance, OH. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, providing personalized instruction in Math and SAT/ACT prep. Our ideal candidate is a motivated and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about teaching upper-level math concepts, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach upper-level math concepts using Sylvan-based programs, adapting to the needs of students in a small group setting (3:1 ratio)
• Supervise, interact with, and motivate students during instruction hours, ensuring they stay engaged and focused on their learning objectives
• Reward students for completed assignments, promoting a sense of accomplishment and encouraging them to strive for excellence
• Evaluate and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness to inform future instruction
• Communicate student needs to the center director, ensuring a collaborative approach to supporting student success
• Inspire students to develop a love of learning, fostering a growth mindset and confidence in their math abilities

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
