Why Join Workwarp & Michigan Farm Bureau?

At Workwarp, we are a leading talent solutions provider that partners with iconic organizations to transform how they attract, engage, and retain top‑tier professionals. Our latest collaboration with Michigan Farm Bureau—a century‑old member‑owned institution dedicated to supporting farmers, rural communities, and the health of Michigan residents—offers you a unique platform to build a rewarding career in health insurance sales while working from the comfort of your home.

Michigan Farm Bureau’s expansive network of agents, county administrators, and member families creates an ecosystem where innovative health solutions thrive. As a Remote Individual Health Insurance Specialist, you will become an integral part of this ecosystem, helping Michigan families secure essential health coverage, driving revenue growth, and elevating the Farm Bureau brand across the state.

Position Overview

This full‑time, remote role is designed for a high‑energy, results‑driven professional who thrives in a collaborative, consultative sales environment. You will focus on selling non‑Medicare individual health insurance products, partnering closely with trained Farm Bureau agents and county staff to deliver tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each member.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Accelerating policy sales across Michigan’s diverse market segments.
  • Fostering strong, trust‑based relationships with Farm Bureau agents and county administrators.
  • Providing advisory support that goes beyond traditional sales, ensuring compliance, retention, and long‑term member satisfaction.

Core Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect & Engage: Identify, qualify, and engage prospective individuals and families through Farm Bureau’s agent network, county staff referrals, and self‑initiated outreach channels.
  • Consultative Selling: Conduct needs‑assessment calls, present customized coverage options, and guide prospects through the enrollment process with empathy and expertise.
  • Quota Achievement: Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets, contributing directly to statewide revenue goals.

Agent Partnership & Support

  • Collaborative Advisory Role: Work hand‑in‑hand with trained health insurance agents, handling complex underwriting questions, policy amendments, and compliance‑related tasks that lie outside the typical agent scope.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in onboarding new agents, sharing best‑practice sales techniques, and reinforcing regulatory standards to maintain a high‑performing sales force.
  • Relationship Management: Build confidence with multi‑line agents, ensuring they view you as a strategic partner for both sales acceleration and service excellence.

Compliance & Retention

  • Regulatory Adherence: Stay current on Michigan health insurance regulations, licensing requirements, and continuing‑education (CE) mandates, ensuring all activities meet state law.
  • Member Retention: Proactively follow up with existing policyholders, addressing concerns, facilitating renewals, and identifying upsell opportunities that enhance coverage value.
  • Data Integrity: Accurately document all interactions in the CRM system, maintaining clean, up‑to‑date records for reporting and audit purposes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related discipline is required; a Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of composite sales experience, with a proven track record in health insurance sales or related financial services.
  • Licensing: Must hold, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a Michigan Health Insurance Resident Producer license. Completion of required CE health courses is required within six (6) months of start date.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and familiarity with CRM platforms.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional phone etiquette, active listening, and the ability to convey complex insurance concepts in clear, relatable language.
  • Mobility: Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to travel to the Farm Bureau Home Office in Lansing, Michigan for quarterly training sessions and monthly staff meetings.
  • Residency: Must reside in Michigan and have reliable high‑speed internet connectivity for remote work.

Preferred Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Health Policy.
  • Prior experience working within a cooperative or member‑owned organization.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing a partner‑agent network.
  • Familiarity with Michigan’s healthcare landscape, including Medicaid and marketplace options.
  • Certification in sales methodologies such as SPIN, Challenger, or Solution Selling.

Key Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Strategic Prospecting: Ability to identify high‑value leads and convert them efficiently.
  • Relationship‑Centric Mindset: Skilled at nurturing long‑term partnerships with agents and members alike.
  • Analytical Thinking: Comfortable interpreting policy data, market trends, and performance metrics to inform sales tactics.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a remote environment while managing shifting priorities and evolving product offerings.
  • Integrity & Compliance: Unwavering commitment to ethical conduct and adherence to state regulations.
