About the Role: Content Distribution Engineer

We're seeking an experienced Content Distribution Engineer to join our Media Engineering team as part of the Delivery Engineering group. As a Content Distribution Engineer, you will specialize in caching technology, distributed networking, and operational experience with CDN edge services. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing and reusing technology across various business and delivery channels, ensuring seamless playback experiences for our global audience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and manage CDN configurations in the blithequark Distribution Matrix, ensuring efficient content delivery across multiple platforms.
• Effectively manage OpenCache deployments with ISPs globally, collaborating with partners to drive success.
• Review performance metrics across our caching infrastructure to identify areas for improvement, working closely with operations and performance monitoring teams.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the blithequark Distribution Matrix, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Participate in tooling development to integrate third-party CDNs into our unified control plane, driving innovation and efficiency.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for CDN support, managing incidents through effective communication with CDN support teams.
• Collaborate with our operations and engineering teams to resolve caching issues, driving problem-solving and resolution.
• Provide level 3 support for emergency assessment, escalation, and backing, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BS/BA required).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing caching solutions, preferably in a Content Delivery Network (CDN) environment.
• Experience in Content Delivery Network operations environments, with a deep understanding of CDN supplier structures and configurations.
• Strong knowledge of HTTP/DNS/Web Infrastructure, caching (Squid), web serving (NGINX, HAProxy), and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, etc.) and configuration management tools (Ansible, AWX).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.
• A passion for debugging and troubleshooting, with a keen eye for detail and a drive for resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with security protocols (SSL Certificates, TLS) and a deep understanding of their application in CDN environments.
• Knowledge of network investigating and performance optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
