Job Summary

A TCM Editor exudes passion for producing high-quality, effective content on time. He/she is

responsible for writing and editing content on tax, accounting, business and other relevant topics for

assigned TopLine Content Marketing (TCM) products (such as newsletters, blog articles and social

media posts) and contributing to content for other CPA Site Solutions products and other industry

verticals as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Research/generate relevant topic ideas for assigned products/services/customers
  •  Complete writing and editing for assigned products/services/customers at a high level of quality
  •  Follow established processes and quality standards while meeting deadlines
  •  Follow tax legislation, IRS guidance, relevant court cases as well as other developments that TCM products cover
  •  Work effectively with other Editorial team members, outside contractors, graphic designers, proofreaders and subject matter experts to ensure content is clear, concise, accurate, timely (to the extent applicable), relevant and effective
  •  Complete other duties as assigned by management, such as helping out when other team members are out of office and contributing to projects for other product lines or verticals as needed

Key Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  •  A BA in journalism, communications or marketing (or equivalent training/experience) ;
  •  3+ years of experience in an editorial or similar content-related role that included writing and editing responsibilities
  •  Experience using AI to assist with researching, creating and editing content while saving time and producing high-quality results
  •  Experience writing and editing business-to-business or other financial or professional services content, preferably tax and accounting content
  •  Familiarity with the accounting profession and the content they need (e.g., accounting, tax, business advisory, etc.)
  •  Ability to effectively research and understand complex topics and write content on those topics that is original, clear, concise, accurate, timely (to the extent applicable), relevant and effective while staying within the applicable word/character count limit and following appropriate style and format guidelines
  •  Ability to effectively edit content submitted by a team member or outside contractor to ensure it is original, clear, concise, accurate, timely (to the extent applicable), relevant and effective while staying within the applicable word/character count limit and following appropriate style and format guidelines
  •  Familiarity with best practices and trends in email marketing, search engine optimization (SEO) marketing and/or social media marketing and how to create and edit effective content based on the medium and purpose – to the extent applicable to assigned products/services
  •  Expert-level English proficiency, including strong knowledge of grammar rules
  •  Experience following a style guide (such as AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style)
  •  High attention to detail
  •  Strong time management and project management skills
  •  Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  •  High tolerance for change and respect for dynamic entrepreneurial management philosophy
  •  Experience working in the MS Windows environment

Physical/Mental Requirements for the Job

  •  Prolonged periods of sedentary movement
  •  May be requested to work overtime and weekends if deemed necessary
  •  Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds
