We're seeking an engineer to join a fast-paced, early-stage startup with you primary responsibility managing and automating cloud infra. Please note that your official title for this role will be “Member of Technical Staff.”

You excel at automating infrastructure provisioning, designing workflows, and configuring monitoring tools. You'll bring your expertise in OpenTofu, Python, and GitHub Actions to streamline our development process. If you're self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about simplicity and security, we'd love to hear from you!

This is a Senior Engineer role so we expect you to be able to work independently on significant bodies of work.

• Design and implement infra code: You’ll be extending our OpenTofu IaC to support the following areas on AWS including: benchmarking and regression testing on both bare metal and VMs, deploying and maintaining the monitoring and tracing stack, automating the creation and updating of our AWS Marketplace offering

• Research infra requirements on other cloud providers: We will be launching our structured generation products on Azure. You will be assisting with researching how we adapt our AWS offering for Azure.

• Maintain bare metal benchmark infra: We have our own bare metal runner cluster that executes GitHub Actions in a sand-boxed environment. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of the cluster.

• Proven Dev Ops Experience: You have significant experience managing and scaling Dev Ops practices at an early stage company or demonstrated capability to do so

• Self-Directed: You are self-directed in your work and look to continuously improve and automate the systems you work with

• Make reasonable tradeoffs: You must be able to prioritize Dev Ops work and automation in a way that makes sense for a 20-person company. What should we continue doing manually today (maybe not forever) instead of automating? Where is greater security a non-negotiable vs a risk that must be mitigated based on the relevant business impact?

We don’t expect you to spend 80 hours per week at your desk, and we won’t either. We have lives outside of work, and want you to as well.

That being said, .txt is an early stage startup. There will be times when we have to put in extra time and energy to deliver on our commitments. But not all the time.

Work from anywhere in the world. We have a culture of written communication, and favor organic discussions over regular large team meetings.

Competitive compensation and benefits

We pay market rate (adjusting for seed-stage startup) + equity options, offer health and dental insurance, and have a 401k (US Only). We’ll get you a GPU if you need one and don’t have one already.
