Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Writing Instructor to join our team for the 2023 summer camp season. As a Writing Instructor, you will have the opportunity to inspire and guide students in developing their writing skills, creativity, and confidence. This is a remote position, offering flexibility and freedom to work from anywhere. If you are passionate about education, writing, and working with young people, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach writing courses to students entering grades 6-12, including A+ Summer High School, A+ Summer Middle School, Emerging Writers 7-9 Grade, and Emerging Writers 10-12.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Provide one-on-one feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their writing skills and confidence.
• Lead students in a showcase at the end of camp, where they will present their work and share their writing with peers and family members.
• Track student progress and hand in deliverables to the camp director and EU home office.
• For on-campus instructors, assist with active supervision, recreational activities, and administrative tasks, as well as lead field trips and guide students on excursions.

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Writing Instructor with a strong background in teaching writing at the high school or college level. The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of experience teaching writing at the high school or college level (for high school programs) or elementary, middle school, or high school level (for middle school programs).
• A Bachelor's degree required; MFA preferred.
• Ability to teach various genres preferred.
• Publications and knowledge about the publication process are preferred.
• A calm and professional demeanor.
• The willingness and ability to work long hours.
• Self-motivation and follow-through.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong people skills.
• A passion for education and writing.

Preferred Qualifications
